The Granada Theatre Concert Series Presents
MEMPHIS MUSIC FEST

Memphis Music Fest is a brilliant fusion of soul, R&B and funk featuring Booker T, The Bar-kays, William Bell, Jean Knight and Eddie Floyd. Booker T. Jones is an American multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, record producer and arranger, best known as the front man of the band Booker T. & the M.G.’s. Spontaneity and excitement has been a trademark of The Bar-kays ever since their inception in the late60’s. Throughout the 70’s they backed some of the most distinguished names in R&B music. William Bell is an American soul singer and songwriter, and one of the architects of the Stax-Volt sound. Jean Knight is a soul/R&B/funk singer, best known for her hit single, “Mr. Big Stuff” which went double-platinum in 1971 and received a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Vocal Performance, Female. Eddie Floyd has a down-home approach and a smooth, but soulful delivery. His song “Knock On Wood” was the third Stax single to hit number one on the R&B charts. “Where there’s smoke there’s fire”, the saying goes. But where there’s smoke and fire, it just might be a live performance by a certain funkomatic group of Memphians who have been setting audiences ablaze for the past four decades.
