Claude Debussy: Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun
Sergei Prokofiev: Piano Concerto No.3 in C Major, Op.26
Igor Stravinsky: The Firebird (complete ballet music)

“Hearing Trifonov is like having a deep-tissue massage: you keep wanting to pull away from the sheer intensity of it, and you come out feeling as if your reality had been slightly altered.” —Washington Post

The Montréal Symphony Orchestra (Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal) was founded in 1934 and stands today as one of North America’s great orchestras. The orchestra has produced nearly 100 recordings, earning 48 national and international awards.

California-born Maestro Kent Nagano has led the Montréal Symphony as Music Director since 2006. Nagano is also Artistic Advisor and Principal Guest Conductor of Gothenburg Symphony and General Music Director of the Hamburg State Opera and Philharmonic Orchestra.

Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov became an inspiration in the summer of 2011. He began by winning the 13th Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in Tel-Aviv before returning to Russia to secure first prize, the Gold Medal, and Grand Prix at the XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition. Trifonov also won the Audience Award and the Award for the best performance of a Mozart concerto. Cultural commentator Norman Lebrecht heralded Trifonov as “a pianist for the rest of our lives.”
