A Student-Run Benefit Concert
Kids Helping Kids is an entirely student run 501 ©(3) non-profit organization based out of the AP Economics classes at San Marcos High School in Santa Barbara, California. Since inception in 2002, the organization has grossed over one million dollars for youth both locally and globally. This will be the six straight year Kids Helping Kids has hosted their annual benefit concert at the Granada Theater. In the past, Kids Helping Kids has booked artists: Switchfoot, Sara Bareilles, Matt Kearney, Tyrone Wells, Five for Fighting and Toad the Wet Sprocket. This year KHK is thrilled to feature singer-songwriter Andy Grammer as the headliner with supporting guest Tim Lopez of the Plain White T’s. The gala also features a performance by the winner of Royals Got Talent, an annual talent show put on by Kids Helping Kids at San Marcos High School.
Kids Helping Kids donates all proceeds raised directly to disadvantaged children. Past allocations include, but are not limited to, subsidizing exam fees for economically-challenged students, visual aid equipment in our local schools, and support of the performing arts in the Santa Barbara County. KHK also supports international efforts including the work of Love, Light, and Melody in Nicaragua. Kids Helping Kids’ annual concert gala is an all inclusive event that brings the community together to accomplish the ultimate goal of making a tangible difference in the lives of others. John Ondrasik, lead singer of Five for Fighting, called it “a blast to play and an inspiration for all.”
