Since adolescence, George Gershwin had wanted to write an opera. Finally at age 35 he got his chance, working with Dubose Heyward on Porgy and Bess. With Gershwin’s unstoppable talent and energy and Heyward’s story, what emerges is a 20th century standard of stage entertainment. Two other American composers of lush and beautiful works, Dan Redfeld and Howard Hanson round out this not-to-be-missed final concert of the season!
