Music Academy of the West Presents
CONCERTO NIGHT
ANDREW GRAMS, Conductor

One of the nation’s most talented young conductors, Andrew Grams served as assistant conductor of the Cleveland Orchestra from 2004 to 2007. He will lead the Academy Festival Orchestra and talented soloists - winners of our 2012 Concerto Competition - in a performance that has become a beloved Music Academy tradition.

The 2012 Concerto Night soloists are flutists Gina Hughes and Daniel Sharp, violinists Yunyoung “Jennifer” Choi and Zachary Spontak, cellist Ahyoung “Julia” Choi, and pianist Jie Yuan. Biographies appear below. All six musicians are attending the Music Academy of the West this summer.

In order of appearance, Mr. Spontak will perform the first two movements of Stravinsky’s Violin Concerto in D Major; Ms. Hughes will perform the Nielsen Flute Concerto; the Choi sisters will perform the first movement of Brahms’ Double Concerto for Violin and Cello in A Minor, Op. 102; Mr. Sharp will perform the Jolivet Flute Concerto; and Mr. Yuan will perform the first movement of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat Minor.
