Anjelah Johnson is taking her stand up comedy act on the road and bringing along the lovable characters and hilarious ethnic satire that made her an Internet sensation and a regular cast member on “MADtv.” Johnson’s stand up act brings refreshing comedic brilliance to racial stereotypes and tales of being raised as a female of Mexican and Native-American decent.
In 2007, the viral YouTube video “Nail Salon” led this American actress and former Oakland Raiders cheerleader to many successful stand up and performance opportunities. That same year she joined the cast of “MADtv,” which spawned another Internet sensation “Bon Qui Qui.” This original character, a disgruntled fast food employee with no filter, has been enjoyed, viewed and replicated by over 55 million people worldwide.
In June 2009 Anjelah recorded her first one-hour special for Comedy Central and Warner Brothers Records titled That’s How We Do It. Her second one-hour special, The Homecoming Show, aired in July of 2013 and will be available on DVD later this year. Johnson starred in Our Family Wedding, alongside Carlos Mencia, Regina King, and Oscar winner Forest Whitaker. Anjelah has also guest starred on shows such as The Shield, Ugly Betty, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and others all while traveling with her stand up comedy.
