Benise’s ‘Fuego!’ features the passion and grace of Flamenco dancing combined with fiery Spanish guitar. Benise, once a local street performer, returns to Santa Barbara with his Emmy Award winning cast to film his 5th special for PBS. Backed by a stage full of musicians and elaborately choreographed dancers, ‘Fuego!’ captures world music at its best.

A former street musician, Benise began composing original works with powerfully emotional arrangements that are both wild and refined, producing a sound that is as edgy and exotic as it is romantic and sensual. A celebration of culture, love, music and life, Benise’s ‘Fuego!’ will take us to worlds both faraway and deeply personal, and remind us that hope can be the healing thread in all of our lives.
As the show’s composer, guitarist and creative force, Benise says ‘Fuego!’ aims
“to take people on a musical journey. I wanted to push the boundaries of traditional Flamenco/Spanish guitar while combining the elements of dance and theater. This show is a celebration of culture--the culmination of all the shows we’ve done over the last 10 years.”

Benise handpicked the “Gitanas,” the dancers in ‘Fuego!’ from a global pool of brilliantly diverse talent. In breathtaking couture and innovative staging and choreography, they give Spanish dance a fresh and luminous makeover.
