Manon is the epitome of French romantic opera, featuring glorious melodies, a large cast and orchestra and the most magnificent set of costumes Opera Santa Barbara has ever put on the Granada stage. The radiant Sarah Coburn, star soprano of the Seattle, Los Angeles and Vienna State Operas, makes her Opera Santa Barbara and role debut as Manon. Harold Meers, who triumphed last season as Don Jose and is quickly becoming one of the most sought-afer tenors in the demanding French repertoire returns as the love-stricken Chevalier Des Grieux. The production is directed by Kristine McIntyre, one of the most formidable directorial talents on the American opera scene today.
